South Lincolnshire and Border League

THE South Lincolnshire and Border League concluded with Boston taking second place in Division One behind Billingborough, who were already assured of the title.

Sleaford 2nd XI ensured Boston finished second
with an emphatic victory over Grantham which ended their hopes of being runner-up.

Batting first, Sleaford struck 228 for seven off their allotted overs, with Wilson hitting a fine 79. Grantham’s reply never really took off and they were skittled out for 123.

Boston secured runners-up spot with a seven wicket win at Caythorpe. The home side could only muster an all out total of 105, despite a gallant half century from Morris, who made 51. Boston knocked off the required runs for the loss of only three wickets.

Belton Park too finished on a high note, ending their programme in fifth place, just above Oakham whom they beat by 106 runs.

Sleaford Sunday also went out with a bang in Division Two, finishing in third place after scoring 243 for five against Caythorpe Sunday who replied with a respectable 203. Shorthouse fell just two runs short of his century for Sleaford and Bates made 78.

Morris was again in good form with the bat for Caythorpe, making 58, and Adams hit 57. But their efforts could not see Caythorpe to the winning line.
