TWO Sleaford area athletes were in the Lincolnshire Schools Under- 15 team which won the Anglian Region Combined Events athletics competition.
Gaby Bangay of Horbling and Hannah Dunderdale of Caythorpe joined with Ellis Whyler (Boston) and Charlotte Taylor (Spalding) to beat much fancied opposition, particularly from Essex and Norfolk, to win the event which took place at Grantham.

In doing so they recorded a score which will make them one of the favourites to take the national team title at Birmingham in September.

Competing in sometimes stormy conditions, the young athletes produced some particularly notable performances. Gaby Bangay again turned in a good all round performance to retain the overall individual title she won last year, while Hannah Dunderdale chalked up personal bests in the long jump and 800 metres on her way to third place overall.

The final Lincolnshire scores were: Gaby Bangay 2955 (1st); Hannah Dunderdale 2864 (3rd); Ellis Whyler 2724 (5th); Charlotte Taylor 2549 (9th).
