A CAMPAIGNER opposed to the proposed straw burning energy plant is hoping he and fellow objectors can persuade North Kesteven District Council's planning committee to reject the scheme.
Steve Bailey, of Kirkby la Thorpe, said: "Some of the issues we raised at our public exhibition were rebutted by David Williams, Eco2's chief executive, but I have the original planning documents. They were the facts that they put forward to study and he has rebutted his own application."
He has complained to district council chief executive Ian Fytche and MP Douglas Hogg about the shortness of time given to people to claim a ticket for the planning committee meeting and the tight deadline for submitting accompanying information by objectors wishing to speak.
Mr Bailey said: "We had over 200 people in the petition booklet and rang them to let them know. It would not have been beyond the abilities of the council to use a bigger venue for a meeting of this magnitude."
Fellow campaigner James McMillan also refuted Eco2 claims that the recent exhibition by campaigners did not portray a true picture of the proposed plant.
Mr McMillan said: "We used their (Eco2) own plans and architectural drawings to show the details of the plant. If Eco2 say that these facts and figures are inaccurate then surely they are saying that the facts and figures in their proposal are inaccurate?
"I am sure if Eco2 were able to just answer some simple questions they would raise their profile.
"They could have shown the amount of pollution that would be caused and why they thought the recent scientific findings, highlighted by Richard Hunt, would not affect the people of Sleaford. In fact they should be able to answer all our questions and quell all concerns."
