RAIL services on the Sleaford to Lincoln line are to be disrupted until the end of August while Network Rail carries out a major programme of works.
The company is spending £63 million on upgrade work, which will include improvements to the track and signalling system in the Lincoln area.

This is the second and final phase of a programme of works to renew the railway tracks and signalling syst
em through the centre of Lincoln.

However, while the work is in progress no rail services will run to or from Lincoln station for six weeks.
The work started at the weekend and is expected to continue until Sunday, August 31.

A Network Rail spokesman said: "This project is the first major investment in Lincoln's railway for many years and will deliver a 21st century railway.

"Network Rail's investment will benefit passengers by allowing for a better rail service.

"By undertaking these essential works over the school holidays, we are hoping to minimise disruption as much as possible. We will provide a rail replacement bus service to ensure passengers are able to reach their destinations during this time. "

The Sleaford to Lincoln Central service is one of those to be replaced by buses during the summer. Other services affected are from Lincoln Central to Doncaster, Grimsby/Cleethorpes, Newark North Gate and Nottingham, between Lincoln and Newark Castle - rail services will operate between Newark Castle and Nottingham.
