SPONGES and buckets were to the fore when firefighters and female footballers joined forces to wash cars to raise money for good causes.
Members of the Sleaford fire crew and Sleaford Town Ladies’ football team organised a car wash day in aid of the Firefighters Charity and football club funds.

Crew manager Kenny McLaughlin thought some potential customers may have stayed away because of the risk of showers but after six hours of car washing they managed to collect £200. He was grateful for donations that ranged from anywhere between £4 to £10.

The Firefighters Charity supports injured firefighters through physical injury and emotional trauma at its therapy and recuperation centres.
