Banners fly high to promote town

BANNERS have been hung from lampposts in the town centre to promote Sleaford and the work being done to improve it.
The 10 vertical banners have been dotted along Southgate and onto Northgate as part of the latest promotional drive dreamt up by Sleaford’s Business Improvement District group.

Erected on Thursday, they are jointly funded by the BID group and Sleaford Town Council at a total cost of £2,500 split between them. The banners will form part of the BID’s drive to promote the town and encourage more people to shop and invest in Sleaford.

BID manager Sandra Grinnell said they were initially focussing on convincing more Sleaford area residents to do their business within the town rather then elsewhere.

She said: “We also want the business rate levy payers to be proud of the fact they are part of the BID and shout it to the rest of the region that Sleaford is a Business Improvement District.”

Initially the banners advertise the fact that Sleaford is a business improvement district but later could be used for all manner of things, such as having a series of visitor attractions or places to eat with the slogan – all good reasons to visit Sleaford. They are purely promotional and not for advertising.

l The next project for the BID group is to boost Sleaford In Bloom’s work by creating floral planting on the roundabouts into Sleaford, possibly with subtle business sponsorship, and a discreet sign promoting visitor attractions and services in the town.
