TV STARS Rory McGrath and Paddy McGuinness had a cracking good time at the World Egg Throwing Championships.
The event was one of the main attractions of Swaton Vintage Day, which attracted an estimated 4,000 people.

AS well as the egg throwing competition, which drew entries from far and wide, the day also featured vintage vehicles, terrier racing and dog agility displays.

There was huge interest from national and international press and TV, with a crew from Channel 5 there to film comedians Rory McGrath and Paddy McGuinness for their new series, Rory and Paddy versus the UK, in which they participate in various weird and unusual local sports. The series is to be screened later in the year.

The egg trebuchet challenge (catapulting eggs at a target) was won by Team Emu, comprising Pete Harborough and Alex Richardson of Swaton.

Other winners in the world egg throwing championships were: Russian Egg Roulette - Opal Upton Brooker; throwing and catching - George Wattam and Joe Spencer; static relay - Team Latvia and Wales; target throwing - Tim Burrell of Heckington.

*Swaton Vintage Day is expected to have raised more than £8,000 for local, national and international good causes, including the Red cross, Leukaemia Research and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
