WALKERS and joggers raised nearly £1,200 when they took part in the Macmillan Mile event at RAF Cranwell.
Due to high winds the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team were unable to drop in to kick off the charity fundraiser but that did not spoil the fun.
Elvis from Skeg-vegas, aka Sgt Matt Martin, one of the physical education instructors at Cranwell, entertained the crowd with his singing and aerobic regime.
The whole of Cranwell Primary School took part and pupils from William Alvey Primary School, Sleaford and Rauceby Primary School were bussed in for free by Sleafordian Coaches.
The Band of the RAF Regiment led the walkers on the one mile walk around the station, setting off from the front of College Hall.
l Maureen Rutter, Macmillan Cancer Support's regional director for the North of England and East Midlands, recently presented RAF Cranwell with a rose bowl in appreciation of the station's support to the charity.
Station commander Gp Capt Nigel Wharmby said: "RAF Cranwell has been closely involved with Macmillan Cancer Support for a considerable time, an organisation that provides an outstanding service to those affected by cancer.
"Of the numerous events held at RAF Cranwell the Macmillan Mile is a highlight of our annual fundraising activity, drawing together young and old from across the station and the surrounding community to walk a mile in return for a small donation."
